About Your Care
We understand that life will throw everyone some difficult challenges. We have the knowledge, empathy and expertise to help you face these challenges.

Our patients receive expert, around-the-clock care for a wide range of psychiatric difficulties, both for adolescents and adults. We seek to help patients meet their own psychosocial, physical, spiritual and safety needs at their individual state of wellness.

Our multidisciplinary patient care team consists of a psychiatrist, nurse, social worker, behavioral health therapist, chaplain, dietitian and tutor for the adolescents. This team provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment approach to meet the needs of patients and their families.

How to Get Help
Our staff psychiatrists can admit patients directly after an evaluation, or patients can visit one of our emergency departments for an assessment.

If there is threat of harm, either to the patient or others, call 911 or seek treatment in our emergency department. There, a physician, psychiatrist or social worker will provide specialized emergency care that includes a medical evaluation and crisis stabilization. Once an evaluation is complete, the patient can be referred to the appropriate inpatient unit or outpatient treatment services.

Treatment Options
Your team will create a treatment plan especially for you. It will identify the concerns you have and how we can work together to make them manageable. We offer an adult inpatient and intensive outpatient program, as well as an adolescent (13-18 years old) inpatient program.

Our services include:

Behavioral Health Therapy. Group and one-to-one interventions are provided daily. Patients are scheduled based on their treatment needs and goals. Program interventions could include Life Management Skills, Recreational Therapy, Leisure Education, Exercise, Relaxation and Stress management, Conflict and Anger Management, Coping Strategies and Family Education. Our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists use treatment, education and recreation services to help patients develop and use their leisure in ways that enhance their health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life. All of our specialists hold either bachelor's or master's degrees in therapeutic recreation or a related field of study, with training in psychology, sociology, human services, adapted physical education, special education and biological or physical sciences. All are required to pass a national certification exam. For more information, go to www.nctrc.org.

Half Day Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): This program offers an alternative to inpatient treatment. IOP meets Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., focusing on stabilizing crisis situations through group therapy. Content may include, but is not limited to, stress management, communication skills, anger management, relationship issues and management of psychiatric conditions.

Nursing. Our nurses complete an admission assessment and provide health teaching, emotional support, medications as prescribed, and a safe environment so patients can work on treatment issues.

Pastoral Care. Two full-time chaplain and more than 20 associate chaplains, staff and volunteers help meet the spiritual needs of our patients. A qualified chaplain can be contacted by calling the hospital operator. There are also a number of clergy and lay visitors at Mansfield Hospital who visit patients and families during weekdays.

Social Work Services. For each patient who is admitted, a social worker will complete a thorough psychosocial assessment and coordinate discharge plans to meet the unique needs of every patient. The social worker will also provide support and advocacy for the patient throughout their stay.
