Tai chi classes geared toward those with arthritis
People living with arthritis can learn how to benefit from the gentle martial art of tai chi at upcoming classes at the MedCentral Health & Fitness Center.
Tai chi is an ancient discipline that combines agile steps, joint safe exercise and mental strength to improve mobility, breathing and relaxation in ways that help you feel more in control of your daily life.
The MedCentral Health & Fitness Center will offer opportunities to learn more at free demonstration classes on Wednesday, Aug. 4 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; and Friday, Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Health & Fitness Center, 1750 W. Fourth St. Registration is required. Call 419-526-8900.
The Health & Fitness Center will then host “Tai Chi for Arthritis,” the National Arthritis Foundation’s four-week program, starting Monday, Aug. 9. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. The cost is $17 for members and $34 for non-members.
A four-week session of the beginning level classes will be held starting Friday, Aug. 13, meeting on Fridays through Sept. 3 from 11 a.m. to noon. The cost is $8.50 for MedCentral Health & Fitness Center members, $17 for non-members.
