Occupational Therapy

Achieving independence in all areas of life

Occupational therapy is a skilled treatment that helps patients achieve independence and lead productive and enjoyable lives. The focus is to develop daily living skills, such as dressing, bathing, bathroom mobility, after surgery, illness or injury.  Patients are central to their own care as we provide specialized services to help them reach individualized goals. Education is provided to patients and their families to promote safety, wellness and optimal functioning. Pysicians refer their patients to occupational therapy when the patient has experienced a stroke, head injury, deconditioning due to illness and other conditions causing reduced independence.

Treatment is available at Mansfield and Shelby hospitals, MedCentral Wellness Complex, in patients' home through MedCentral HomeCare and for children through Pediatric Therapy services.
